10 with Ten: Angela Wood of West Indian Girl [pics!]

Here it is again! The second installment of 10 with Ten with the beautiful Angela Wood of West Indian Girl. This interview took place in the make-up department at Fred Segal in Santa Monica where Angela works (until she quits pretty soon to go on tour with us). Angela was nice enough to give me the "rich blonde actress with dry skin and a few wrinkles" treatment today. Let's do this bitch.

1. describe your role in the band? I sing, and play tamborine... shake it with the best of 'em. I also try to clean the bachelor pad we like to refer to as our "practice space." I also flip Fran the bird whenever the urge overtakes me.

2. besides having the best booty in the band what other assets to you bring to the west indian girl table? Well, first of all there is no need to call attention to the booty... it does that on it's own. As for my assets... lets see... I dance, can't help it... more bang for your buck, fans.

3. you're actually a southern belle aren't you? - describe your life in Nashville and the big "D" and how u ended up in LA. Well I grew up in Dallas and went to college at Baylor University (in WACO... ohhhhh), then moved to Nashville after three years of that hell hole. In Nashville I wrote and sang country music. I LOVED Nashville!!!! I loved my friends and my house and my first pug (Nelly Pugtado). At that time, however, the popular country music was so cheesy that after two years I decided to head out to LA to see what I could get into out here. I met Chris (our keyboard player) at a festival off Sunset one day and that's how I got here... with all these fine musicians.

4. you come from a pretty religious background (your dad is even a minister) - do they object or have any concerns about you hanging out with us and/or the career path you have chosen? No, not that I know of... I still carry the values they instilled in me, and they want me to be happy and pursue my passion. Of course they don't know what FREAKS you guys are either...

5. hip hop or country music? Fran, you're quite the hard-hitter with these questions... I like to dance to hip hop- ghetto booty grindin' music, and play country in my cd player... so it's a toss-up.

6. did anyone ever tease you about your last name and if so what did they say? "'Wood' ...huh huhhhhh" ... really lame, guys...

7. how will you deal with any hecklers in the crowd? Throw my drink on them and tell them to get me a new one :)... Seriously, I'll ignore it because my big brother will be back stage watching you and will beat your ass when the shows over!

8. who was the last "famous" person that you put make-up on? Oh by the way people, I also do makeup at Fred Segal "The" place to see and be seen. Thanks for asking Fran, I think the last person may have been Reese Witherspoon or maybe... you know I don't remember, but I'm doing makeup for LA fashion week, so I'm sure they'll be more...

9. what are you listening to lately - who are your favorite bands out right now? I love Keane. I love Keith Urban (country). I love Frou Frou right now. Also: Mindy Smith, the Sundays, Jolie Holland, Jonatha Brooks, and Lori Mckenna. (I love the lilith fair-types)

10. describe the last show you went to - did it suck? I went to see my friends band play, The Daylights... I was really impressed. I love those guys... two hot twins that can sing and play REALLY WELL! ... can't beat that.

Bonus Question (cos you're a girl) who is your favorite bass player? Well looks like you've gone over your question limit and I've wasted enough time answering your silly questions... maybe next time... ;)
